Our History
Located on Armstrong St in Edmonton, Fuller Sports is the sister property of Brothers Leagues Club on the south-side of Cairns and the home of the ever-popular Edmonton Bowls Club.
Fuller Sports Club was first known as Edmonton Bowls Club, who closed their doors in August 2002 after going into voluntary administration. On 10th June 2005, Brothers Leagues Club acquired their second licensed venue and officially bought Edmonton Bowls Club.
The Club was then renamed Fuller Sports Club to reflect the name given to the adjacent public park named in honour of Charles Daniel Fuller, a local resident who had served with the Australian Light Horse Regiment in Egypt in World War 1.
In 2011, Fuller Sports Club was given a major facelift to modernise the whole facility. This included, a brand-new undercover passenger drop off and pick-up area, reception, bottle shop, kitchen and dining area, lounge area, gaming room, bar and TAB, children’s room, toilets and car park. The renovations were greatly received by the Edmonton community and shortly after the club was recognised in the 2011 Clubs Queensland Awards, with Fuller Sports winning the best Bowls Club in Queensland! This was just the start for the club, as three years later, Fuller Sports Club was recognised for another three awards; Best Club Far North Queensland, Best Club in Queensland, and Best Queensland Bowls Club!
Proud to be a not-for-profit organisation, Fuller Sports Club provides assistance back to the local community through its various development projects and initiatives throughout our region, showing continued commitment to grow their capacity to nurture the future of sport in the Tropical North.
